NME Tour Brixton Academy
Sunday 21st February 2010 - 1 Comment

Last night for my friends 19th Birthday I headed off to Brixton Academy for the NME Tour. The gig was a complete surprise outing for my friend G, I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did. The Drums, The Big Pink, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees played, which made for an amazing gig.
I will be reviewing The Drums for Virgin Music and have also done an email interview with the band which I will post up when I complete it. They really do deserve all their hype, pure pop perfection if ever I heard it. The Big Pink and Bombay Bicycle Club also made a really big impression on me and I highly suggest you check them out.
Of course The Maccabees absolutely stole the show for me. Being one of my favourite bands, to hear the rest of the crowd also singing and clapping along to every line and every guitar rift made me so happy and had me dancing like a loon. They just blew me away (again), particularly in their encore which included a collaboration with Orange Juice singer Edwyn Collins. Many times I have read that The Maccabees count Orange Juice as one of their favourite bands of all time, the look of sheer and utter joy on their faces while they played ‘`Rip It Up’ with their idol moved me so completely. The moment was summed up by a girl next to me who totally broke down in tears at the sight of her two favourite acts together. To top this off, the rest of the bands of the tour joined The Maccabees on stage for their last song, on the last date of their tour together, for a big hugging fest. It was so completely beautiful and I couldn’t have wished for a more brilliant evening. Thank you,

The above statement sums up exactly how I feel about a certain man-related situation at the moment. I won’t bore you with the ins and outs of my love life, however I will say I am newly and freshly and completely single. Tonight I am off out in Kingston to enjoy this independence for a change, with some good friends and a cheap bottle of vodka. On Saturday the same will occur, I can’t go into too much detail as it is my friend G’s birthday and I know if I tell you where we are going he will read this and spoil the amazing surprise we have instore for him.
I am going home to my Mummy and Daddy’s house tomorrow night for some time away from the University lifestyle and a little TLC. I am also going to hang out with Jasper, my adorable orange cat, see some of my friends at home and sleep a.l.o.t. A general battery and moral recharge is in desperate need as I have been doing a 7 day week recently with no lay ins. Im one of those people that was born tired and needing 8 hours sleep at least every night, which of course I rarely get. It’s going to be beautiful,
Hope you all have equally as awesome weekends,

Kings of Leon @ Hyde Park
Wednesday 17th February 2010 - Write a comment

Anybody who knows me personally, or has read this blog for an length of time will know I am one of the biggest Kings of Leon fans ever. I admit, unashamedly, that I absolutely adore the Tennessee foursome. Youth & Youngmanhood, their debut album, was released at a time when I was just starting to get into music along with other classic indie acts such as The Strokes, The Libertines and The White Stripes, all of whom I have had massive love for since I was old enough to understand their music.
Kings of Leon have announced this week a one off show at London’s Hyde Park on June 30th for which I already have tickets through presale. They are a costly £47.50 each and go on sale on Friday at 9am from Ticket Master, See Tickets etc. I have been gagging for it to be summer, and now I cannot wait even more. Im thinking two of my favourite people in the world with me, Im thinking all day beer drinking in the sun, Im thinking a picnic and befriending strangers to play frisbee and rounders with. Im thinking its pretty much going to be the most epic thing ever… as long as there is more of the first three albums than the last time I saw them.
50,000 people is a whole lot of crowd pleasing,

Zooey Deschanel is a groupie
Monday 15th February 2010 - 1 Comment

Zooey Deschanel is one of my favourite actresses, musicians and people all round. Her roles in Almost Famous, 500 Days of Summer and Bridge to Terabithia are so lovely and her band She & Him are cutesy musical goodness. Deschannel’s new role is with American TV channel HBO as Pamela Des Barres in a production of her memoir I’m With The Band: Confessions Of A Groupie. The TV series will document Pamela Des Barres’s life as a groupie and music lover with some of the most iconic names in music including Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page and Don Johnson. I can’t wait to see Deschannel get her sexy on, as she usually plays the innocent ‘butter-wouldn’t-melt’ roles in her films and has quite a squeaky clean image. I have started reading the book I’m With The Band: Confessions Of A Groupie a few times but have never actually finished it, however despite this I am still really excited about seeing the finished result,

Plastiscines Interview

Last monday I headed off into central London to interview the French quartet, Plastiscines. I was only able to talk to Marina (guitarist) and Louise (bassist) as the other two had trotted off to their hotel to have a wash and what not, as they had just stepped off a bus from Glasgow. The girls were lovely and it was great to meet them, you can read my interview for Virgin Music here,

The Robyn Diaries
Saturday 13th February 2010 - 1 Comment

Hello!
A long time ago I decided that the look of my blog needed a freshen up, I really dislike the banner at the top, the little polaroid thing – everything. It was such a long time ago I started this blog and have since then changed a lot in my style and taste, as any person would between the ages of 18 and almost 21!
I feel that the name I Love Kitty Killer is a little gimicky and that using my real name and creating a real personal feel to my blog will enable me to continue with the success I have so far experienced. So, in the next few weeks you will notice a new layout and a new name for this blog, I Love Kitty Killer is soon to be The Robyn Diaries. As you can see above I already have a new banner in the pipelines by the brilliant Anna from the Rosy Cheeks Blog. The URL of my blog will also be changing, which I will let you know about nearer the time so you can update your bookmarks and links sections. However the I Love Kitty Killer address will directly link you to the new The Robyn Dairies address until my contract with that name runs out later in the year.
I hope that makes sense and I can’t wait to see where The Robyn Diaries takes me,

The Catoralist

The Catorialist, a pun on the street style blog The Sartorialist, plays on my love of all things meow-y and cat-y. So much so that I chuckled and cooed over the blog for a good 10 minutes and thought I should share all it’s furry goodness with you,

You’re the only one who can put that spring back into your step…
